Rules and General Info
n.1 "Plaque" includes all low or mid-relief items such as the collectible items we typically call plaques, medallions, tiles. Includes 2-D ornaments, pendants and pins, which can be cross-entered in Divisions I and IV.
n.2 Other Collectibles include the following by hobby artists: Pendants, pins, bracelets, ornaments, mugs, boxes. Almost any chachki other than plaques and three-dimensional horses. Division IV items must state an "Item Type" in the Title field: tell me what kind of item it is (a mug, an ornament, a pin), and please keep it under 50 characters so we can make out the entire title at a glance.

n.3

Workmanship will be judged on a combination of the sculptor and the finisher's talents, with the idea that the finished result should be aesthetically pleasing.
n.4 Collectibility will be judged upon a combination of rarity and aesthetic considerations. To qualify for Divisions III or IV, an item must be released in an "edition" of 5 or more in a single color combination. All collectibility classes have custom fields that should be completed. If you don't make a stab at including this information, it can and probably will affect your results. Those fields are as follows:

a. number in existence

b. sculptor

c. finisher

d. nature of edition (award for show Y, Xmas gift from artist Z) and year.

e. year made

Less important info includes techniques used, total no. of sculpt out there in any color, dimensions, etc. If you miss the fields while you are uploading, you can go back and edit your photo to add this information. If you can't figure out this info, write the artist(s) or ask in the Resin Corral forum or the Kiln forum.

n.5 Group entries must have a minimum of 4 items. For group entry photos, I'd like one photo of the whole group - no multiples. In the Title field, put a brief statement of your theme: no longer than 50 characters. In the Description field, put as much information as you like.
n.6 Color: In the realistically painted plaque classes, I'm sure the judges would appreciate knowing what color the horse is supposed to be. However, it's not mandatory. If you can't figure out this info and want to include it, write the artist or ask in the Resin Corral forum or the Kiln forum.
n.7 Method: refers to what technique the artist used when painting plaques: airbrushing, oils, or pastels, for example. This information is not mandatory. It would just be helpful for the judges to know. If you have questions about the technique used, write the artist or ask in the Resin Corral forum.
n.8 Subject: For non-horse classes, it would be nice to let the judge know what is supposed to be depicted (cat, dog, wombat, etc.). If you're putting this information in the Title field instead of the Description field, keep it short: no more than 50 characters.
n.9 Put metal or other mediums with the Cold-Painted items.
n.10 You can only enter photos of items you own. You can enter photos shot by others, but you must have their permission to use the photo.
n.11 Open only to paid Blab Members. Membership is $18 per year, and includes access to all forums on the hobby's largest message board. Extremely addictive! You can register for free and get a seven day free paid-access-style trial, to see if you enjoy it. Email me.
n.12 No kvetching about the results, period.
n.13 Questions about the show can be directed to the show thread (link below). Please don't submit questions asking for information on technique, color, or edition information there. We can't help you.
n.14 The Gallery software allows viewers to rank horses from Excellent (10) to Poor (1). We'll use that software to place horses from 1st to 5th.
n.15 We reserve the right to combine, cancel or add classes as entries warrant.

Judges and Their Backgrounds Judges names are linked to their professional websites.
Thomas Bainbridge (Blab ID: bainbridge) Tom is from Michigan. He's been a participant in the hobby since at least the mid-70s. Tom is widely-regarded as one of the hobby's most gifted and successful craftspeople, having finished something like 1000 horses and continuing to produce works that are highly sought-after. He is one of the hobby's pluckiest characters, too.

Maggie Barkovitz (Blab ID: magsman): Maggie is from Missouri. Maggie has been a collector and judge of horses for many years. Currently, she is the moderator of the Breakables listserv, co-proprietor of DaBar Enterprises (casting service) and organizer of the enormous Breakables Live show held last year at Breyerfest, to wide acclaim. Occasionally she finds time to sleep.

Elizabeth LaRose (Blab ID: bronzino): Elizabeth is from Illinois. She has been a participant in the hobby since the 1970s and has worn multiple NAMHSA hats, hosted her own shows, served as a RESS jurist, and judged hundreds of live and photo shows, exhibited or judged in every region in the continental United States, and serves as a moderator on Blab.

Elaine Lindelef (Blab ID: eel): Elaine is from California. She has been a participant in the hobby for many years - a name so well-known to us "oldies" that there is virtually no other "Elaine" that readily comes to mind. Elaine has served in such diverse roles as NAMHSA's President, confidante and counsel, a judge in countless live shows, and a customizer in her own right.
